THE TRIMARAN....what is a trimaran?
The trimaran is just a regular sailingboat but with three hulls instead of one. In other words it’s just a catamaran but with one more hull (not to spare no expense we put three on it).
I say: “we put”, because “Muffolo”, that’s the boat’s name, is a whole SELFMADE composite (epoxy resin and PVC) trimaran!!

The construction idea started from my father, who, bored by the slowness and low manageability of the monohulls, decided to embark himself on this adventure.
The processing of a wooden model, taking the measures from some plans found at the library, was the first step and it had the function to give us an idea on the hull’s shape.
THE PROJECT
Thrilled about the result, my father decides to contact the designer who was inspired, the American Kurt Huges from Seattle, to buy the plans of this ultra-light multihull with unlimited performance and fun.

Thus, after having sold his share part of single-hull boat, he can be found with just 2 cans of epoxy resin and a roll of cloth glass: from them, he should have quit his new boat! Little gem was the construction of the "shed", that we hosted for the years required for the construction of our trimaran.

Thus, far in 1995, the boat construction began, which starts with the assembly of the wooden molds necessary to give life to the side hulls. Unfortunately, after the first resined, allergy problems comes out, constraining my father to long and forced periods of break away from the shed.

The project hasn’t had an easy life and as if not more, to complicate matters, some problems start with the designer in recovering some fundamental design details concerning the joints between the hulls and other details very difficult to invent. Fortunately, after 3 years of troubled adventures and inventions craft, our Muffolo is finally ready!!

Nobody will never forget that day: 10 September 1998, when, passing by jeep, trailer and boat thru the town, we were accompanied by a procession of cars, almost like a day of celebration and thanksgiving. Even today we celebrate his birthday, and distance of 10 years from that date, I decided to share the passion and fun that this fantastic boat that can give, to anybody interested in living a truly unique experience in contact with the sea. I hope to have you on board soon. Simone Romano
